Using the correct type of antifreeze is just as important as using the correct type of oil for an engine. Diesel engines are known to have pitting in their wet sleeve liners if the correct antifreeze is not used. This pitting can eat throug the liner allowing antifreeze to enter the combustion chamber and destroying the engine.
